I was able to access PUK via right to choose and the waitlist to diagnosis was much better (around 5-6 months at the time, compared to a minimum of 3 years in my county wih the NHS). I was surprised how easily i was diagnosed with ADHD (combined type) in one session with my psychiatrist, but after discussing with peers I found i wasn't as great at masking as i thought! The titration wait was about 6 months for me. The first treatment did not work so well in terms of side effects and symptom management, then the stock issues affected the drug i was prescribed anyway so we chose to change to another type which is working a little better at managing my symptoms. The prescriber i was assigned was great at explaining the mechanisms of how the drugs interact & ways of reducing side effects. I still struggle with my symptoms, but i am much less overwhelmed and more focused day to day so things are more manageable.
